Creating History with Stainless Steel

There is a popular urban myth that New York’s Chrysler Building spire is built from hubcaps. In fact, the spire is made of stainless steel. Still shining proudly after more than 85 years.

Stainless steel is sustainable and durable

Stainless steel is a sustainable material because it “meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”.

Basically, stainless steel lasts an extremely long time while still looking fantastic. With minimal maintenance.

The stainless steel sink in your home could be 40 or 50 years old. How’s it looking?

In technical terms, stainless steel is a family of corrosion resistant alloy steels containing 10.5% or more chromium.

All stainless steels are super durable and have a high resistance to corrosion (and vandals!), making them a perfect choice for modern cemetery memorials.

Stainless steel v bronze

Bronze used to be the popular choice of metal for cemetery memorials before stainless steel came along.

Bronze is reasonably durable, but not nearly as corrosion resistant as stainless. Imagine using bronze cutlery. You’d end up eating that greenish corrosion along with your dinner. Yuk. I’m going to stick to my stainless steel knives and forks. No wonder the Iron Age replaced the Bronze Age.

From cradle to grave

Forever Shining has brought the sustainable materials “cradle to grave” philosophy to the cemetery memorials industry.  Albert de Boer and his team have been pioneering stainless steel headstones since 2006, when the ABC TV New Inventors program featured their innovations.

Durable, beautiful choices

Unheard of when stone and bronze were your only choice for a headstone or plaque, stainless steel is beautiful, versatile and vandal resistant.

We guarantee our products will not crack or disintegrate with land movement or the passage of time. Furthermore, our memorials will keep their good looks and maintain a readable inscription for thousands of years.

You can choose from a wide range of innovative marine grade stainless steel memorials and motifs from Forever Shining.

Your motifs and personalised inscriptions are laser-cut into two layers of steel, which holds a layer of coloured glass. When natural light passes through you get an effect similar to stained glass without the fragile nature of glass.

A single thickness plaque is a more economical alternative with all the benefits of marine grade stainless. These plaques will outlast a bronze plaque.
